Good company
since 2015

How it started

Two friends,
one simple idea

In 2015, Jim and Keith opened 7 Locks Brewing with a straightforward vision: brew well-executed, thoughtful beers and pour them in a place the neighborhood could call its own.

On a 15-barrel brewhouse we put our spin on the classics — balanced malt, honest hops — alongside some not-so-traditional brews. Water, barley, hops, yeast and the occasional adjunct. That’s it. Beer doesn’t have to be complicated to be good.

“Leave your worries at the door and join us for a pint after work. You’ll be in good company.” — Jim & Keith, founders

Why “7 Locks”

Named for
the canal

Just down the road, the C&O Canal climbs past the Potomac through a famous flight of seven lift locks — the stretch that gave Seven Locks Road its name. Photographs of those locks hang on our taproom wall, and seven lock gates stand in our logo.

It’s a reminder of where we are: Montgomery County, with its rich agricultural heritage and its long history of moving good things along the water.
